ADULT DAY SERVICES
Monday – Friday 7am – 5:30 pm
The ADULT DAY HEALTH SERVICES program at the HANOVER ADULT CENTER provides reliable health care and companionship for adults who need assistance and/or supervision during the day. Caregivers receive respite, which is crucial to their ability to continue other life roles.
Benefits for Participants:
- Assistance with personal care and activities of daily living.
- Socialization and structured therapeutic activities.

- Home-like setting with an atmosphere of compassion and acceptance.
- Health monitoring by full-time LPN and CNAs.

- Prevent or delay nursing home placement or more expensive care.
- Respite from caregiving.
- Care management and emotional support.
Ratio: 1 staff to 6 participants
Participant Enrollment Criteria
- Potential participants must be 18 years or older.
- Potential participants may not be totally incontinent of bowel and/or bladder. In order that participants be successful, staff strongly encourage toileting assistance such as: transferring, assistance with protective undergarments, assistance with hygiene, and adjustment of clothes, ect so that participants may be successful with continence.
- In order to transfer (for example, from a chair or from a wheelchair to the toilet) participants must be able to stand and bear weight with the assistance of a mechanical device and one staff person. Participants must be able to assist with transfers.
Hanover Adult Center Qualifications
- Licensed by the Department of Social Services
- Virginia Adult Day Services Association Member
- Certified by the Department of Medical Assistance Services as and Adult Day Care Provider under the EDCD waiver
